An emotional reunion will happen when "Elementary" returns for the next episode of season 5 after its brief hiatus.

The synopsis for the episode titled "Rekt in Real Life" reveals that Shinwell Johnson (Nelsan Ellis) will be contacted by his teenage daughter and asks him to meet up. This will be their first reunion in years, which makes Shinwell nervous.

According to the synopsis, Shinwell will go to Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) to ask her for advice. He could probably ask her for tips about how to approach her daughter.

Aside from Shinwell's problem, Joan will also help Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) work on another murder case. This time, the duo will look into the murder of a former professional eSports video game player who was killed in front of the camera while he was doing a live video stream.

TVLine reported early January that "Heroes" star James Kyson will appear in the upcoming episode. The actor will portray the role of Joey, the smooth-tongued game gear company CEO and eSports franchise owner. But the report did not mention if Kyson's character will have something to do with the murder.

Meanwhile, another report from the publication reveals that TV director Jennifer Lynch is set to helm one of the episodes of season 5. According to TVLine, Lynch's episode for "Elementary" will air in March. She is known for directing some of the episodes of "Quantico," "Salem," as well as "Once Upon a Time."

Liu will also direct another episode of "Elementary" when it returns after the short break this season. The report reveals that the actress' fourth time to step into the director's chair will be for season 5's episode 22, which is expected to air sometime in May.

CBS will air the next episode of "Elementary" season 5 on Sunday, Feb. 19.
