The upcoming episode of "Elementary" season 5 will see Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) look into a murder that involves a priceless item.

Titled "The Ballad of Lucy Frances," the official synopsis of episode 17 reveals that Sherlock and Joan will be called by the New York Police Department to assist in a case. The crime was only heard through an advanced gunshot detection system. However, the police cannot find sufficient evidence to prove that the crime was committed, so they have to seek the help of the duo on the matter.

In the promotional preview of the upcoming episode, it shows that a man was murdered over a priceless guitar. Captain Tommy Gregson (Aidan Quinn) describes the instrument as a "piece of rock history worth killing over." The preview does not reveal the identity of the killer but shows a man wearing a cap and hitting someone on the ground using the precious guitar. Will Sherlock and Joan be able to crack the case?

Meanwhile, the summary also reveals that Sherlock and Joan will doubt Shinwell Johnson (Nelsan Ellis) when he suddenly becomes a target of a drive-by shooting. Although it seems that he was a victim at first, Sherlock and Joan's investigation will give them the hint that Shinwell may be involved in the unsolved murder case.

Shinwell, an ex-convict, initially appeared in episode 14 of season 5. In the episode, his daughter Chivonne (Madai Chakell) reached out to him for help because there was a gang who was after her. Chivonne did not go to the police but instead decided that his father may be the best person to help her. Although Shinwell felt that this may compromise his undercover mission to bring down his former gang, he lent his hand and was successful.

"Elementary" season 5 airs episode 17 on Sunday, March 19, at 10 p.m. EDT on CBS.
