Piranha Bytes, the developer of "Risen" and "Gothic," has just announced a new open-world game set in a post-apocalyptic world called "ELEX" or as the company describes it "Eclectic, Lavish, Exhilarating, Xenial."

According to GameSpot, "ELEX" is being developed in collaboration with "Darksiders" publisher Nordic Games. "This is by far the most ambitious project for Piranha Bytes and Nordic Games to-date," the developer said in their statement.

So far, Piranha Bytes and Nordic Games still have not released any information yet for the game. But as mentioned on their official website, the world of "ELEX" is "set in a brand new post-apocalyptic Science Fantasy universe that puts players into a huge seamless game world full of original characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and powerful action."

By the looks of it, it seems like this game will offer some very interesting plotlines. Nordic Games' director Reinhard Pollice said via IGN that "ELEX is going to be edgy, dark, uncompromising, [and] complex."

Meanwhile, Piranha Bytes' game director, Bjorn Pankratz, showed his enthusiasm with the project. He said in a statement "It is great to know, that we will have ample creative freedom with ELEX, which is a very important factor for us. We can't wait to show you a completely new game experience with a fresh setting, new assets and plenty of possibilities."

The game is pretty intriguing because of the way they tease their fans with the subtle details. Luckily, for those interested in the game, the developers of the IP has announced that "ELEX" is going to attend GamesCom this coming August. Fans can attend the event to learn more information about the soon-to-be-released IP.

"ELEX's" release date will land sometime between late 2016 and early 2017. It will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
