'Fast and Furious 8' release date, plot and cast news: fans unhappy about old Paul footage rumor
The cast and crew of "Fast and Furious 8" have wrapped up filming but there's still much to be done, especially since it's time for editing and a lot of decisions have to be made regarding the scenes to be used and those that should be scrapped.
While production is busy with all the other things to do, some fans are unhappy with the emergence of rumors that some old footage from the previous installments of the hit franchise will be used to relive the memories of Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Conner in the films.
Walker passed away from a tragic car accident in 2013 before "Fast and Furious 7" was released and when rumors emerged about production allegedly planning to integrate some of his scenes from the previous installments to "Fast and Furious 8," some fans revolted. For them, it's better to leave his memories there in honor of his performance and legacy.
On the other hand, most of them agree that it's better if Cody and Caleb Walker, the actor's brothers, would agree once more to do some scenes for Brian to be remembered. It is unclear if this will come into fruition but fans are hoping that the two Walker brothers would still be part of the franchise so Walker's character can still be relived.
Meanwhile, the plot for "Fast and Furious 8" remains tightly under wraps but it is expected that Kurt Russell's addition to the roster as Mr. Nobody will be the starting point of the events that will go down in the film.
Aside from Russell, Charlize Theron has also been added to the cast and she will play Cipher. It is unclear what she will do to make the story move forward minus Walker but Cipher is a villain and Theron is known for her amazing performances as a villain. Will she at least be in combat against Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs?
Finally, there's the beautiful and timeless Dame Helen Mirren, whose role remains a mystery. Despite the lack of information about the veteran actress' part, many fans are hopeful that she will have a titular performance in "Fast and Furious 8," given that she has previously stated her desire to be part of the "Fast" family.
There are a lot of mysteries surrounding "Fast and Furious 8" but moviegoers can expect a lot of action and fun when the sequel hits U.S. theaters on April 14, 2017.
