'Five Nights at Freddy's' news: new game isn't 'Five Nights at Freddy's 5', says creator Scott Cawthon
It's only been two months since the most recent "Five Nights at Freddy's" title was released but the creator, Scott Cawthon, is reported to be developing yet another game in the franchise. According to several reports, however, fans should not expect it to be the fifth installment of "Five Nights at Freddy's."
Cawthon's announcement was received by several confused avid followers of his cult indie game. Because his confirmation came in the recent aftermath of the fourth version's release, fans were quick to assume that his upcoming project would be "FNaF 5." Cawthon has since clarified that the upcoming release, while using the same characters, would not be "Five Nights at Freddy's 5." Instead, it would be a completely different game called "Five Nights at Freddy's World."
Cawthon also explained why he chose to work with his iconic characters despite the nature of the new game being wholly different.
"I wanted to use these characters in a new and fun way because they are so near and dear to my heart, and I was excited to work on a type of game that I hadn't made in a long time," he said.
The game developer further spilled details as to what fans can expect from "Five Nights at Freddys' World" and according to him, the new game would not be, in the least, horror.
"It will not be a horror game, but a role playing game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the 'FNaF' games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions. I've been working steadily on characters and hope to start on enemy models next week."
The release date for "Five nights at Freddy's World" has yet to be announced. However, since the game is still in its early development stage, it might be quite a wait before it is made available.
