The third season of the TV drama series "Girl Meets World" will focus on love, teenage issues, and how the characters will deal with the changes they have to face now that they are entering high school.

Creator and showrunner Michael Jacobs told The Wrap, "High school will not be an easy adjustment for this cast... [It] is the most confusing, awful, terrible and ultimately – if you do it right – wonderful springboard into college and the rest of your life. But it's high school we remember. So these are the episodes I want you to remember."

In the previous season, the finale put the love triangle of Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), Lucas (Peyton Meyer), and Riley (Rowan Blanchard) on center stage. Lucas was about to make his choice between the girls, but he found it hard to do so. The complicated relationship will probably be tackled in about a third or half of the upcoming season.

There is an interesting speculation, though, as to where this love story will lead to. An episode is reportedly be going to bear the title "Girl Meets Maya," wherein Maya's sexual preference will be revealed. In the alleged episode, audience would be learning that Maya is vying for Riley's love instead of Lucas'. Jacobs has not addressed this rumor yet.

Meanwhile, Jacobs confirmed that avid viewers will be seeing more of Josh, a character played by Uriah Shelton. He said that he will be the focus of some of the complicated issues they are planning for the series. "We're going to use Josh to just add... texture and growth to the other characters," Jacobs added.

Jacobs also addressed the speculations on the inclusion of more mature storylines, such as underage drinking and sex. He explained that when it comes to these topics, the production team will be extra cautious in handling them.

"We will tackle heavier subjects, and we will explore them, but we will also honor the fact that our demographic starts at 6 years old," he pointed out.

The season 3 of "Girl Meets World" is set to be aired in spring 2016 on the Disney Channel.
