'Gotham' season 1 episode 16 spoilers: Meet the Joker, Milo Ventimiglia cast as the Ogre

(FOX/official Facebook page)Jim Gordon and Leslie go on a date to Haly's Circus where they see an act by the Flying Graysons. However, things don't go quiet as planned as angry clowns run awry.

FOX's "Gotham" is set to infuse the show with a slew of intriguing villains, with executive producer Bruno Heller confirming fan-favorite super-villain, Joker, making an appearance. TV Guide reports that the show will only scratch the surface of Joker's story and character, rather than delve deep into Batman's most iconic villain. Heller said, "We've said you're going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America -- nobody wants to wait. So, we will scratch the surface of that story, yes. But just scratch it -- a little tap on the door."

The promotional video of episode 16 confirms the appearance of Joker as Gordon is seen interrogating a young man who has a haunting stare and bursts into fits of laughter. Actor Cameron Monaghan essays the role of a teenaged boy named Jerome, who is speculated to be a young Joker. The official synopsis of the episode reveals that Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) takes Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) on a date to the circus. Fans may remember that they discussed going on a date in the previous episode.

At the circus, they watch The Flying Graysons and all seems to go well till a bunch of angry clowns wreaks havoc after the trapeze artists' act. The fact that the show has angry clowns and that the promotional video shows a teenaged boy who cannot stop laughing, indicates that audiences will see the Joker.

Apart from the Joker, Gotham will also see another villain: the Ogre. Portrayed by actor Milo Ventimiglia, the antagonist is significantly different from the DC comic version. Another TV Guide report reveals that Ogre's real name will be Jason Lennon and he is a serial killer who preys on young women while searching for his right match. Apparently, the serial killer has high standards, and when women fail to meet them, he gets rid of them for good.

With the exciting set of criminals infiltrating Gotham city, fans may not want to miss episode 16 of "Gotham" titled "The Blind Fortune Teller" which will be airing on Monday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
