According to Jessica Capshaw, Arizona and Callie will still put their romance on hold when 'Grey's Anatomy' returns for the rest of its current season.

The actress who plays Dr. Arizona Robbins spoke about the future of her character with regards to the romance with Callie, and Jessica Capshaw revealed that Arizona's mental health is one of the main reasons why her character will keep her distance from Callie.

"It's respectful to the fans that really want them to be together because they don't have to see them almost be together in every episode," said the actress to TVLine during the Television Critics Association press tour.

"It's so smart of [the writers]. It hasn't held any sort of inauthenticity. If you break up with someone, you would want some space," added Capshaw in the same interview. Capshaw added that the space between Arizona and Callie is needed since the two remained focused on living their own separate lives outside the relationship.

"The best thing the writers could have done, which is what they did for at least these next six episodes, is have [Arizona and Callie] just be on their own," further explained the actress. The actress then added that the space was an integral part of the two characters becoming faithful to themselves as individuals since it has allowed them to refrain from arguing and bickering with each other.

"They haven't had to butt up against each other or be sad. They both dove into their own lives and have lived there," said the actress.

As for now, it looks like Arizona will focus on healing Dr. Herman with Amelia. The existence of Dr. Herman's tumor was revealed during the mid-season finale and it has been said that the tumor was "inoperable." It is now up to Arizona and Amelia to find a way to make the operation happen.
