'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 spoilers: Doctors forced to choose sides with Arizona and Callie's escalating custody battle
The ongoing custody battle between Arizona and Callie could lead to a division among the other Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital doctors in an all-new episode of "Grey's Anatomy" titled "You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side."
In last week's episode, Callie announced that she was planning to bring daughter Sophia along when she moves to New York City. Understandably, Arizona was against this plan and wanted their daughter to stay in Seattle.
In the upcoming episode airing this Thursday night, both Arizona and Callie turn to their closest friends for support. The promo hints at a possible divide between the doctors as they will be forced to take a side.
In a sneak peek into the episode, Callie is seen asking a huge favor from Alex — as a friend. She explains that Alex is someone who knows her and her child. His work as a pediatric surgeon also shows that he is trustworthy, especially when it comes to children. Alex interrupts Callie's long-winded speech and asks, "Are you asking me to take the stand for you for your custody thing?"
Meanwhile, in another sneak peek, a very emotional Arizona is comforted by Richard. Arizona feels that she is in a losing battle and her continued efforts will just hurt Sophia in the end. Richard dispenses some tough love and tells Arizona that if she wants her daughter, she will have to fight like she has never before. He also reminds her to stand up for herself and believe that she also deserves to fight for custody.
Also in the episode, Meredith encourages Amelia and Owen to give their romance another try — for real this time. Stephanie's blossoming relationship with Kyle also grows to be more complex in the upcoming episode.
Be sure to catch "You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side" airing on Apr. 28.
Season 12 of "Grey's Anatomy" airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
