'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers: April's interim chief duty raises eyebrows within the hospital
April Kepner (Sarah Drew) will have a challenging job as the new general surgery chief of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital on the next episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.
In the trailer for the episode titled "It Only Gets Much Worse," April reveals that Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) has been suspended, and she is assigned to replace her as the general surgery department chief of the hospital. But it seems like not everyone is happy to see her as the interim chief of the department.
Aside from the other doctors, the hospital patients also have doubts on April's abilities. In one of the scenes, a patient is obviously unhappy to see April on her bedside instead of Dr. Grey. But based on her confrontation with Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary), she will not be discouraged by what the patients and the other doctors think about her.
Meanwhile, the medical residents are reportedly looking forward to the next teaching session of surgical residency program Eliza Minnick based on the synopsis released by ABC. But instead of focusing on her classes, the residents will be caught in the middle of warring attendings.
The next episode of "Grey's Anatomy" season 13 airs on ABC on Thursday, Feb. 16.
Elsewhere, actor Justin Chambers teased in an interview with Variety that his character Alex Karev could possibly be involved in a love triangle with DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) and Jo (Camilla Luddington). According to the actor, there could be a chance to see Jo falling for DeLuca's chivalry.
Chambers also hinted that Alex and Jo's relationship could be in a downward spiral after learning about her prior marriage and the physical altercation with DeLuca. "Her lying about her identity for the last five years is pretty hardcore. But Alex has messed up a lot in his life and he's always had chances to correct himself and I think he can parlay that into their relationship," he stated. "I still think there's more for them."
