'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' release date soon as filming officially concludes
It's official. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has finished production, which means they are that much closer to the completion of the film. And with the first film's success at the box office, many are anticipating the sequel to be no different.
Director James Gunn officially confirmed via his Twitter account that shooting for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" had already wrapped. Earlier that same day, he also revealed that all of Chris Pratt's scenes had already been filmed. Pratt plays Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, who is the leader of the group of misfits who turned into heroes.
And that’s a wrap on #GoTGVol2. WHEW. So much gratitude to my wonderful cast and crew. Thank you all.

Additionally, Gunn also shared an exciting little tidbit about the movie. On his Facebook page, he posted a video of himself saying that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" would make an appearance at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con. That means the cast of the upcoming superhero ensemble film will be sitting down at a panel to answer questions and entertain fans. Another upcoming Marvel film will also be in attendance since "Doctor Strange" is also expected to be at the Comic Con event. With some luck, teasers and clips from "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be shown at the upcoming convention.
In other news, it was previously rumored that the almighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) would be making a cameo appearance of sorts in the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" movie. This rumor first gained traction after Gunn posed for a photo with Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Of course, needless to say, fans went crazy over the idea.
Gunn took to his Facebook account to clarify the issue, saying, "No, Thor isn't in 'Vol. 2' – the props guy just happened to have it around and I decided to take a pic with it. Not sure if I'm able to lift it because I'm worthy or because I'm soulless like an elevator."
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will hit U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.
