'Insidious: Chapter 4' release date, plot news: Fourth installment talks about Elise's beginnings
Horror is a difficult genre to pull off successfully, considering people don't scare easily nowadays. This is a challenge that the "Insidious" series has won over, netting the creators a chance to make "Insidious: Chapter 4."
In an interview with the Daily Dead, esteemed actress Lin Shaye was able to shed light on the plot of the fourth installment. She explained that the film will begin at a time after Chapter 3, and will delve deeper into her character's roots.
"In general, it goes back to Elise's beginnings," Shaye says. "And you also meet Elise at a very different point in her life. It takes place right after the end of Chapter 3, when she walks off with Specs and Tucker and they're starting their company, Spectral Sightings, and they are now living at her home. They're like her two sons, her two bad sons," Shaye explains while laughing.
Shaye also states that in the fourth installment, the audiences will get to know Elise's family as they move to their hometown in New Mexico. She tries to find the demonic entity that has been haunting her since the start of the "Insidious" series, which could eventually build up to how the first film takes place. "I think the fans will really, really enjoy it. And it's scary on levels they're not going to expect," Shaye adds.
"Insidious: Chapter 4" is welcoming a new director, Adam Robitel. He's got experience in directing horror films, with "Taking of Deborah Morgan" as such movie under his belt. He will be working with Leigh Whannell, who will be writing for the fourth film and has directed Chapter 3.
As per The Numbers, "Insidious: Chapter 2" had the highest earnings compared to the first and the third films, setting a worldwide box office record of over $161 million. It will be interesting to see how the newest installment to the series will fare when it comes to performance on the silver screen.
"Insidious: Chapter 4" will be haunting in theaters once again on Oct. 20, 2017.
