'Justice League' movie update: Actor to play Steppenwolf still unknown; character to be purely CGI?

(Facebook/The Justice League Movie)"Justice League's" big bad is Steppenwolf, not Darkseid.

Although it has already been announced that Steppenwolf will be the big bad in the first-ever live-action movie version of "Justice League," the actor who will breathe life to the character has yet to be revealed.

Contrary to what some people thought, the main villain in the first installment of "Justice League" is Steppenwolf and not Darkseid. However, even if the movie has been in production since April this year, the actor to portray the villain isn't known yet. With this, fans are now suspecting that the character will be fully developed through computer-generated imagery (CGI), just like what director Zack Snyder did to Doomsday in the March blockbuster, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Gal Gadot, who reprises her Wonder Woman role in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" for "Justice League," recently shared a behind-the-scene shoot on her Instagram account how her fight scenes with Darkseid was developed through CGI.

To the uninitiated, Steppenwolf is the cousin of Darkseid. Those who have availed themselves of the DVD copy of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" surely already have an idea how he looks like as the director's cut of the movie shows Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) talking to the villain inside the Kryptonian spaceship.

The said scene, along some others, was deleted from the theatrical-release version of the movie.

Meanwhile, it seems that Darseid is being reserved for "Justice League 2." Allegedly, one of Superman's (Henry Cavill) most formidable opponents will first appear in "Man of Steel 2," where the Son of Krypton will battle the villain twice: in Space and on Earth. According to reports, Martian Manhunter will hunt down Darkseid for abducting his family and fellow Martians and will chase him to Earth, where the Man of Steel will battle with the character once more, this time with the help of the members of Justice League.

Could it be that "Man of Steel 2" will set up the events for "Justice League 2?" Fans can only speculate at this point in time.

"Justice League" is still in production in London as of this writing and is reported to move to Iceland next month to shoot more scenes. The movie is set to arrive on Nov. 16, 2017, while its sequel, "Justice League 2," is scheduled to arrive in 2019.

"Man of Steel 2," on the other hand, is suspected to arrive between 2018 and 2019 as Warner Bros. has booked two release schedules in the said years for two still unnamed movies.
