Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole new album 2016 release date update: Lamar rumored to pick Drake for collaboration

For the past months, fans have been requesting for Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole to come up with a joint album that will take down all the previous collaborations ever produced in history. However, it seems the album won't be happening anytime soon as recent rumors suggest that Lamar would rather take on Drake instead of J. Cole.

The rumors started after a video posted by Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith made quite a buzz over the weekend. In the clip, Lamar sings to a tune from Drake's new album, "Views from the 6." During the joy ride, the famous rapper is also heard singing Rihanna's "Work."

While Lamar and Drake have been taking jabs at each other over the past years, it seems Lamar is over the petty feuds and might be implying that he is a fan of the equally prominent songwriter.

Even before Tiffith posted the said video, a post from Drake's Instagram account showing a wad of $2 bills also made rounds online. Fans suggest that the rapper may be teasing a future joint album with Lamar as the latter was also seen last week with TDE co-president Dave Free in a footage.

It just so happens that Lamar was counting some $2 bills and Twitter fan @brainfeeder suggested that the bills may have been the same ones that Drake later posted on social media. The similarity made fans speculate that both Drake and Lamar may be teasing an upcoming duet or album in the making.

Anything can happen in music but XXL Mag notes that Lamar is busy with shows in New Zealand at the moment while Drake is reportedly in Toronto. On the other hand, there is also a possibility that the two will come together in the near future for a track or two.

If the rumor turns out to be true, a J. Cole and Lamar collaboration might be either shelved for the later years or it just might never happen at all.

On the other hand, hope can still live on. According to Christian Daily, Lamar has assured his fans that the dream project with J. Cole is still on the table and patience is the key to a perfect and flawless music drop.
