'Law & Order: SVU' season 17 episode 13 spoilers: Benson's team investigates an assault with numerous uncooperative witnesses; 'Hamilton' stars take over series
Lieutenant Olivia Benson and her team are faced with another frustrating case as potential witnesses to an assault refuse to cooperate.
A trailer for episode 13 of "Law & Order: SVU season 17 gives viewers a hint to what the police investigating the case are up against. The short clip starts with woman being assaulted by three men in what appears to be a courtyard. Lights come on in some of the windows from the surrounding buildings and several people are seen looking out. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) tells her team that with all those windows, someone was bound to have seen something. They are shown interviewing people, but all the tenants say they haven't seen anything. The trailer ends with Benson encouraging a woman to tell them what she saw. The woman appears to have bruises on her face.
As frustrating and irritating as it seems, there has to be a compelling reason why the tenants remain tight-lipped despite the seeming brutality of the attack. It's possible that they're afraid of retaliation or the perpetrators might be someone in government or law enforcement. It's also possible that these people, as worrying as it might sound, might simply not care about others.
Interestingly, the upcoming episode is titled "Forty-One Witnesses," which might be the number of people who have seen the crime but have not come forward. The episode will also see a number of Broadway stars guesting.
According to an Entertainment Weekly report, "Hamilton" stars Daveed Diggs and Anthony Ramos will be showing their acting chops on the long-running police drama. Diggs will be reprising his role as defense counsel Louis Henderson while Ramos will portray a man accused of rape. And with "Hamilton's" Raul Esperza also on board as ADA Rafael Barba, Broadway fans will no doubt be tuning in.
Episode 13 of "Law & Order: SVU" season 17 is set to air on Feb. 3 on NBC.
