'Law & Order: SVU season 18 spoilers, news: Is Tucker going to propose to Benson soon?
Benson (Mariska Hargitay) may soon be engaged to Tucker (Robert John Burke) in the new season of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
Last episode, the captain hinted that he might be taking his relationship with Benson to a different level. After a particularly harrowing case, Benson went to the park with Tucker and Noah (Jack Nawada-Braunwart) to shake off her tiredness. While the boy was playing somewhere, Tucker asked Benson how her week had been. She said that although she was stressed all time, she had never been happier with her life. Benson then shed a few tears, prompting Tucker to ask why she was crying. She said she was scared it would not last. The captain then assured her that it would, as long as he could help it.
Many fans think this is Tucker's way of showing Benson his true feelings. He might be thinking of proposing to her and becoming a dad to little Noah. After all, they are not getting any younger. With the difficulties that Benson has been experiencing at work, Tucker may be thinking of sharing the burden with her. Benson will likely say yes, in the event that he pops the question. Anyone can see that she is very much in love with him. It is also a bonus that Noah likes him a lot.
Life at the precinct has never been tougher for Benson. The tension between her and Chief Dodds (Peter Gallagher) is rising by the day and even their colleagues can feel it. According to Hargitay, her character cannot fault the chief for being angry at her because of Mike's (Andy Karl) death. Benson also blames herself for what happened. Mike had been an integral part of the team and his presence will be missed.
"I think she takes this hard. This is, again, [she] cannot catch a break because there's so much...this idea of being a leader, right? And everything's your fault because it's all under you. It's taking on so much responsibility and I think that she has survivor's guilt pretty serious and takes a hit on this one. These things are adding up, I think she really blames herself," the actress shared with E! News.
"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" airs Wednesdays, 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
