Walt and Henry's friendship crumbled in "Longmire" season 5 after the former discovered that his best friend was a vigilante. However, there may be hope for fans to see a reconciliation in the upcoming season.

In season 5, it was revealed that Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips) and Walt (Robert Taylor) had the same mission. Henry also wanted to protect his people, just as Walt watched over the residents of his town. However, it turns out that the two best friends have different methods when it comes to defending their own. Henry has a secret identity called Hector, and to his people, he is a hero.

While Hector/Henry was a hero to the people he served and protected, it did not play well on Walt since he trusted Henry in the first place. Carter Matt notes that it will not be easy to restore the friendship the two main characters once had. However, if Henry decides to contemplate well on the years of trust and friendship that he shared with Walt, the torn bond may be mended.

It is also expected that in "Longmire" season 6, Henry will be seen interacting with the rest of the gang more. In the previous installments, he appeared to have been separated from the core characters' circle.

Meanwhile, the end is near for "Longmire." According to TVLine's report in November, Netflix announced that season 6 will be the last of the series. The streaming giant picked up the show after its three-season run on A&E.

During the cancellation announcement, executive producers Hunt Baldwin, John Coveny and Greer Shephard said they were thankful "for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories." They add, "Most importantly, we're committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty."

An official "Longmire" season 6 release date has yet to be announced by Netflix. However, the new season is expected to premiere sometime 2017.
