'Lucifer' season 2 episode 4 spoilers: Lucifer and Chloe search for killer targeting new LA residents; Amenadiel reminds Lucifer of his deal with God
Family reunions are harsh, regardless of whether you're a regular Joe or the devil himself. Now that Lucifer has decreed his mom will be living out her life as a human, what will happen to Chloe?
"Lucifer" season 2 continues to do a good job in balancing witty banter with heartfelt moments, and the previous episode certainly had several of them. The episode finds Det. Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) working on a case involving a killer who punishes people according to their sins. Lucifer was forced to do a little soul-searching when his mother (Tricia Helfer) demanded to know why he works with the police and whether he wants to continue punishing people because he still wants to please his father.
The episode ended with Lucifer finding an answer to that question and sending her to her "punishment" — life as Charlotte Richards, a wife and mother. It's probably an apt sentence, but viewers can't help but wonder how this once-goddess will fare.
Lucifer will have other things on his mind, though, as episode 4 finds him and Chloe hunting for a killer who had already taken the lives of two young people who just moved to L.A. Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) surprisingly asks Chloe out for drinks. The detective thinks it's Maze's way of starting a friendship, but it's actually part of a bet between her and Lucifer. Interestingly, she and Maze will come to a shocking decision.
"Lucifer" fans are no doubt excited to know what Maze and Chloe are up to. After all, they're the two closest to Lucifer. It would also be interesting if the two women did develop a friendship as they work well together, especially when Maze isn't being overprotective of her boss.
Charlotte might be away from her sons, but she will continue to affect their lives. The trailer for the upcoming episode, "Lady Parts," attests to this. The clip starts with Lucifer being his usual charming and irreverent self, inviting two young ladies to come back to his penthouse with him. Amenadiel (D.B Woodside) later reminds his brother about the deal he made with their father and asks him what will happen if God took back his side of the bargain. Lucifer laughs off his suggestion, but admittedly looks disturbed.
Will Lucifer send his mother back to hell so that Chloe will remain safe? The answer might be in the fourth episode of "Lucifer" season 2, which will be aired on Fox on Oct. 17 at 9 p.m.
