'Mortal Kombat X' DLC: brings four new characters to roster; $4.99 for Tremor as a standalone character
"Mortal Kombat X" quickly surged in popularity when it was released in April; and if the recent EVO is any indication, it has cemented itself as one the best fighting games out in the market today. "Mortal Kombat X" came out with an impressive roster of fighters, with four more added via the Kombat Pass.
The four DLC characters – Jason Voorhees, Tanya, Tremor and the Predator – were released last week to those who availed of the Pass. But gamers who were not able to secure a Kombat Pass can now purchase Tremor as a standalone character for only $4.99.
"NetherRealm" gave players a taste of Tremor and his unique fighting style with a live stream during the recently concluded EVO 2015 tournament. So those who were at the event know that the Tremor DLC is a worthy investment.
But those who were not able to see the live stream should consider that Tremor comes in several variations, each with a different design and moveset. As the name implies, the character's moves are mostly earth-based. Players can use a Rock Drop to literally drop a rock on the opponent while a Rock Shower can be used to inflict greater damage. There is also the powerful Ground Pulse wherein Tremor punches the ground and creates a damage that is unblockable.
One notable thing about Tremor is its bloody but satisfying secret Brutality. Players can trigger the move by pressing the down button when a match ends on a throw so that the opponent's skull is impaled with a big spike.
There have been reports that "NetherRealm" is planning on adding more characters to "Mortal Kombat X" through a second Kombat Pack. It has been said that the next batch of downloadable characters will consist of Baraka, Meat, Rain and Sindel. There is also the possibility that Bo Rai, Cho, Fujin, Kabal and Stryker will be released instead.
