'Nashville' season 5 spoilers: Rachel Bilson, Kaitlin Doubleday join cast for season 5B
After Connie Britton left the show when her character Rayna Jaymes passed away, "Nashville" will introduce two actresses to join the series for the second half of season 5.
According to reports, "Hart of Dixie" star Rachel Bilson will be introduced as a new series regular for "Nashville" season 5, while "Empire" alum Kaitlin Doubleday landed a recurring role.
"We welcome Rachel and Kaitlin into our incredibly talented ensemble," executive producer Marshall Herskovitz said in a statement regarding the casting of both actresses. "We fondly anticipate the second half of the season filled with surprising twists and turns that make 'Nashville' so beloved by the fans."
The roles of both actresses remain under wraps, but they offered some hints through their Instagram accounts. Bilson uploaded a photo of the door of Rayna's Highway 65 record label, which could suggest that she might be a recording artist or a music executive. On the other hand, Doubleday posted the logo of the iconic Bluebird Café.
This will definitely be a change of pace! #NashvilleCMT

Meanwhile, CMT teased the events that will unfold in the upcoming episodes of "Nashville" season 5 in a 1-minute sneak peek.
Based on the trailer, Scarlett's (Clare Bowen) explosive confession before the end of the midseason finale will be tackled in the back half of season 5.
Scarlett shocked fans when she told Gunnar (Sam Palladio) that she is pregnant, but she has no idea who between her on-and-off boyfriend and her music video director could be the father of her child. But the trailer hints that she will have a paternity test to determine the identity of her baby daddy.
The trailer also reveals that Daphne (Maisy Stella) will be deeply affected with the passing of her mother Rayna. She is seen heading toward a lot of trouble, which could be a problem for Deacon (Charles Esten). Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) is also seen having a hard time during her return to the concert stage after her plane crash accident at the beginning of the season.
CMT is still mum about the official release date of the second half of "Nashville" season 5.
