'NCIS' season 14 episode 17 synopsis: Vance stepping down as director of NCIS to pursue a career in politics?
CBS' long-running police procedural TV series "NCIS" is currently on a brief hiatus. But when the show returns this Tuesday, Senior Agent Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) might be taking over as director of the bureau.
In the synopsis for episode 17 of "NCIS" season 14, titled "What Lies Above," NCIS' director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) might be switching careers. If he is to leave the bureau, the team will have to find someone else to lead them. And if he does vacate the position, the number 1 contender for the job is one of the top agents in the crime investigations unit, Gibbs. It is still uncertain if Vance will leave NCIS, but, as revealed in the synopsis, Congresswoman Jenna Fleming (Mary Stuart Masterson) will make a comeback. And she might be the reason why Vance will switch careers. The Congresswoman will convince him to enter politics.
To note, Vance and Flemming are currently dating. The latter might be able to successfully persuade the former to start a career in politics.
Elsewhere in the episode, McGee (Sean Murray) will be stopping a robbery in progress in his apartment. What they initially believe to be a random break-in will turn out to be a bigger case, which has to do with the former tenant in the apartment, a homicidal maniac named Paul Triff (French Stewart). The team will further investigate Triff and the murders that took place in McGee's house 15 years ago. When Gibbs and McGee bring in Triff for questioning, they discover the horrid truths behind the murders.
When the killer returns to McGee's apartment, he will be looking for a specific item. Little is known about the object and its importance, perhaps it has to do with the murders committed years before.
"NCIS" season 14 episode 17, titled "What Lies Above," airs on Tuesday, March 7, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
