Nikon DL Series news: professional quality images from latest compact camera line
Nikon has introduced three premium compact cameras as part of its new DL Series. The trio of cameras, the DL 24-85, DL 18-50 and the DL 24-500, come with powerful features but in a compact and easy to carry body.
"We recognize consumers' desire for smaller cameras capable of outstanding image quality. With the new DL line, Nikon is proud to fuse legendary NIKKOR optics with the latest innovations in imaging to provide advanced photographers amazingly compact tools capable of capturing photos and videos that even the most discerned professional would be proud of," said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning at Nikon.
All the Nikon DL cameras feature a 20.8 MP BSI CMOS sensor, a NIKKOR glass lens and the new EXPEED 6A image processor. These features allow the cameras to capture high-quality images and videos with ease no matter the shooting conditions. Photographers will be able to capture moments during low-light street photography, stunning portraits and the expansive views of landscapes.
The cameras also come with a high-speed hybrid autofocus system with up to 105 focal points, continuous shooting of up to 20 frames per second and up to 60 frames per second when locked on the first frame. With the Dual Detect Optical VR technology, photographers also won't have to worry about the camera shaking.
The DL Series cameras also come with a 1,037K dot resolution OLED touch display for framing photos. The DL 24-85 and DL 18-50 are equipped with a tilting display, while the DL 24-500 comes with a vari-angle display.
Aside from stunning images, users can also capture high-quality videos using the new DL line of cameras. The cameras have 4K UHD video recording capability at 30 frames per second. The camera can also capture slow motion videos, time lapse movies and four-second movies.
With the Nikon SnapBridge technology, users will also have an easy time sharing and uploading the captured images and videos. SnapBridge uses Bluetooth to connect to smartphones, tablets and other compatible devices. With Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, users can also share on social media networks or upload images onto the cloud. Nikon is offering up 20 GB of free Nikon Image cloud space for registered users.
The Nikon DL premium compact cameras will be available for purchase by summer 2016. The DL 24-85 is priced at $649.95, the DL 18-50 is priced at $849.95 and the DL 24-500 is priced at $999.95.
