'Orange is the new Black' Season 3 highlights: Ruby Rose to play Stella Carlin
Although Netflix Inc. is yet to confirm the premiere date of the third season of the "Orange is the New Black" series, rumor has it that the production could be out some time in June 2015. This is based on the assumption that internet streaming media company will follow the 'trend' that saw the release of season one and season two in mid 2013 and mid 2014 respectively. The shooting of the third season began in June 2014.
For spoilers, some information regarding the forthcoming release is already out there and those following the series have every reason to look out for season three. To begin with, Alex who appeared in many scenes in season one and significantly fewer in the second season will feature in all 13 episodes of season three. Laura Prepon who plays Alex has confirmed that her presence in the forthcoming season will be significantly higher after spending much time in hiding in season two after exposing and testifying against Kubra Balik, a drug dealer.
Season three will also see the entry of a new character, Stella Carlin, played by 28-year-old Ruby Rose. Word has it that the Australian beauty will feature as an inmate at the Litchfield Federal Correctional Institution and will be a point of interest between Piper and Alex as each one of them tries to win her over.
Another new entrant into the cast is the talented Mary Steenburgen. She is set to play Pornstache's mother and it will be interesting to see how the story goes as rumor has it that George 'Pornstache' Mendez might not appear at all on season three. It is also not clear whether Larry Bloom will be featuring in the third episode.
Blair Brown will also be part of the cast though there is no word yet on the role she will be playing. It will definitely be interesting to see the course that plotline of the series takes with the change in the production's cast.
