Vanessa asks for Dr. Seward's help to fight against an evil in the upcoming premiere episode, titled "The Day Tennyson Died," of the third season of the horror drama "Penny Dreadful."

The official synopsis reveals that Ethan, Sir Malcom, and Dr. Frankenstein are situated in different places around the world to face off their own demons. Meanwhile, the downhearted and broken Vanessa turns to Dr. Seward to help her battle a new demo in her life.

The official promo trailer for season 3 shows a glimpse of darkness in the upcoming episodes. Darkness will soon appear in the lives of the characters in Oscar Wilde's fictional world. The evil will overcome the Earth to end all of their days. Vanessa sees another evil being in her life. This creature has been haunting her since the dawn of time. Ethan, Sir Malcom, and Dr. Frankenstein, who are found all over the world, will be reunited to come and save Vanessa. Frankenstein tells Brona that they should try to be human.

More spoilers for the upcoming season were revealed. According to reports, LuPone of "American Horror Story" fame will be introduced as Dr. Seward, Vanessa's therapist who will treat her in an unconventional approach. Kaetenay is another new character played by Wes Studi, who will also be revealed. He is an aggressive and mysterious Native American who has a deep connection with Ethan. He will also become an ally to Sir Malcom.

In other related news, "Penny Dreadful" creator John Logan told The Hollywood Reporter last year that the next season is a fruit of the team's positive change of pace. He added, "We can get out of the alleys and cobblestone bars of Victorian London and see a bit more of the world. Essentially there's a pull bringing these characters together and it's supernatural, partly romantic, partly shared destiny."

"Penny Dreadful" season 3 premieres on May 1 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
