'Penny Dreadful' season 3 update: Ethan and Vanessa to reunite
The new official trailer for "Penny Dreadful" season 3 reveals that Ethan and Vanessa will have their highly anticipated reunion.
In the promotional video, Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) is seen going on another perilous journey to Africa. His enemies have laid out travails along his way. Despite this, fans will get their sweet treat; he will be reunited with Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) in the upcoming season.
Moreover, a voice in the background can be heard, saying: "All the broken and shunned creatures, someone's got to care for them. Who shall it be, if not us?"
There has also been a rumor swirling around that Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and Ethan will form an alliance of their own, but it is yet to be confirmed whether this is going to happen before or after Ethan's trip to Africa.
Meanwhile, in a previous teaser released earlier in January, Vanessa seems to be inside an asylum fighting off the demons in her head. Ethan, on the other hand, is finally transforming into his werewolf self.
The season 3 synopsis brings juicy details to the table as well. Patti LuPone is coming back to the series as Dr. Seward, an American therapist "who treats Vanessa with an unconventional new approach."
Wes Studi will also be added into the roster of series regulars. He will be playing Kaetenay, "an intense, enigmatic Native American with a deep connection to Ethan."
Another newcomer is Shazad Latif, and he will give life to Robert Louis Stevenson's beloved character, Dr. Henry Jekyll.
"Penny Dreadful" season 2 had introduced witches; fans are expecting the production behind the show will give more focus to these characters. They could explore Vanessa's rivalry with the witches' leader, Madam Kali (also known as Evelyn Poole, played by Helen McCrory).
"Penny Dreadful" season 3 will premiere on Sunday, May 1 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
