'Persona 5' news: game's plot revealed

(Atlus)

Atlus' Persona franchise released its fifth iteration of the series more than six years ago in 2009. Since the announcement of the development of "Persona 5," Fans of the game have been waiting patiently for news about its impending release date. Unfortunately, not only has Altus withheld the specific date for the title's debut, but the company has announced that the game would be available for purchase at a later date than what was officially announced.

Last September, the company issued an official press release detailing the reason for moving "Persona 5's" release date. According to the statement, the team behind the series is just making sure that the upcoming release is all that is cut up to be. They understand the anticipation surrounding its debut however they want to create a "Persona 5" that is worth releasing.

"The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae - elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly. So while ATLUS realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans," read the statement published by IGN.

Since then multiple theories about what is in store for gamers in the new title has made its way online. According to VCPost, Persona 5 will have a new plot widely different to that of the previous Persona games. The protagonists will be haunted down in this game rather than them hunting down mysterious criminals. "The Phantom," which will be voiced by Jun Fukuyama, will be the main character for Persona 5. Some of the characters that are also sure to appear in the new Persona 5 are: Ann Takamaki who is voiced by Nana Mizuki, Rykui Sakamoto which will be voiced by Mamoru Miyano and a talking cat named Morgana who will be voiced by Ikue Otani.

A "Cooperation" feature is added to the game that allows the gamers to interact with fellow gamers and decide on which method they would both want to use in order to finish the stage and achieve the goal.

The Persona 5 editor Katsura Hashino reported that the game will be released in the summer of 2016.
