'Pokemon Sun and Moon' gameplay update: New characters revealed
New Pokemon characters are coming this year when Nintendo releases the much-awaited "Pokemon Sun and Moon." During the recently held Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), director Shigeru Ohmori and producer Junichi Masuda shared some details regarding the game.
Three starter Pokemons were introduced namely Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio who reside at the tropical region of Aloha. A video was presented that shows the basic attacks of the new characters to be explored by the Trainers. Rowlet resembles an owl and as such attacks through flipping its wings. Litten is an animated kitten who spits fire toward its enemies. Last but not the least is Popplio, a seal-like creature who lets out massive amounts of water.
The legendary "Pokemon Sun and Moon" characters were briefly shown as well. Solgaleo who derives its power from the sun is majestic with its lion-like form. Lunala has a bat-like form that absorbs the power of the moon prior to attack.
There are Trainer forms for players to choose from. Professor Kukui will be there to guide the Trainers along with his mysterious assistant named Lillie. A glimpse of the friendly Hau was also shown.
When asked about what brought about the title of the game, Masuda explained that the sun is often regarded as the light and the moon is associated with it as well and that's what they wanted to incorporate in the game. To show how the Pokemons are affected by the light and lack thereof like the sun and the moon.
Aside from Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, and the Legendaries Solgaleo and Lunala, players will also get to meet Grubbin, Yungoos, and Pikipek. Grubbin looks like a bug with claws that could be used for battle. Yungoos resembles a mongoose and is always hungry. He is popularly being compared to presidential candidate Donald Trump. As for Pikipek, the flying character resembles a woodpecker.
"Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon" will be available on Nov. 18.
