'Pokémon Sun & Moon' news: Pokémon Bank users get Mew's Z-Crystal; 3rd global mission is about GTS

Pokémon trainers have been getting themselves acquainted with the new pokémon introduced in the Alola region for over two months already, and players are anxious as to when they can bring their beloved pokémon from earlier titles to the latest installment. Now, Game Freak has announced that the Pokémon Bank is already updated with a fantastic surprise for patient fans.

The Pokémon Company has announced on the official website that the Pokémon Bank is already updated to support "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon." This allows players to bring their pokémon from "Pokémon X & Y" and "Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire" to the latest title for the franchise. Moreover, generation I pokémon from digital copies of "Pokémon Red, Blue & Yellow" can now be transferred via Poké Transporter.

To add to the hype, an extra item is awarded to Pokémon Bank users, which is the Mewnium Z. The said Z-Crystal can only be used by the elusive mythical pokémon Mew, allowing it to use its special Z-move, Genesis Supernova.

Even before the Z-Crystal was announced, data miners have already known the existence of such item. It only took a few more digging for them to see what Mew's exclusive move what, and can also be seen in action here. Basing from how the trainer moves, the Z-move is arguably a strengthened psychic-type attack.

For players who have "Pokémon Sun" or "Pokémon Moon" as their first Pokémon game and do not have access to earlier-generation pokémon, that will not be a problem. According to Serebii, the third global mission will be revolving around using the Global Trade Station (GTS). In relation to the update, one can expect that earlier-generation pokémon will be traded there. The goal is not yet announced, but the mission is said to happen from Jan. 31 to Feb. 14.

2017 is going to be a new year with another goal for players, which is to complete the National Pokédex from Bulbasaur to Magearna.
