'Prison Break' season 5 spoilers: Dominic Purcell reveals Michael Scofield had been working with terrorist groups
When "Prison Break" took a bow in 2009, many people thought that the show's main character, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) met his demise. However, as the show is being revived by FOX and will continue the story it left six years ago, it turns out that Michael Scofield is not dead after all, and had been working with terrorist groups all along.
"It's tying into what's going on in the world today with terrorism. The show is taking place in Yemen; we're dealing with ISIS and ISA, and obviously we left off with Michael presumably dead. He wasn't, he ended up working for this organization. It got to the point where he couldn't do it anymore, and they threw him in a jail in Yemen to change his mind. He didn't change his mind, they set him up," revealed Dominic Purcell, who plays the role of Lincoln Burrows in "Prison Break," during an exclusive interview with Deadline.
Purcell assures that the upcoming season of "Prison Break" will blow away its avid viewers, claiming that it is one extraordinary show and even described it as a fusion of the movies "Bourne Identity" and "American Sniper."
"It's really a riveting, high-tension thriller. It's an extraordinary, extraordinary show... it's crazy. It's really, really cool," said Purcell in the same interview.
Prior to his interview with Deadline, which happened at the U.S. launch of Bausele (Australia's first luxury watch company) that has his him as its Global Ambassador, it was reported that Purcell sustained an injury on his head and nose after a set piece got dislodged and an iron bar fell during their shoot for "Prison Break."
According to Purcell, the accident happened while they were filming a scene wherein he was running into a prison to look for Michael Scofield. He revealed that the particular scene is caused by the collapse of a regime in Yemen, plunging the country into chaos. However, in his character's attempt to find that of Miller's, an iron bar hit him until the whole structure caved in, pinning him on the ground. When a stunt man came to help him, it was when he realized the seriousness of his injury, driving him to think that the worse for him may be at hand.

"When he said my skull was showing, I just assumed that my skull was cracked, and blood was going to go into my brain ... I thought I was going to die," Purcell recalled.
With Purcell's revelations, it seems that people behind "Prison Break" season 5 are really making every scene worth the reboot. As to how explosive the show will be, fans can only wait and see when "Prison Break" returns to FOX in spring next year.
