'Rainbow Six Siege' DLC update and release date: Update 2.3 already available; new DLC to have US theme
"Rainbow Six Siege" players can now have a better gaming experience as Update 2.3 is already available on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
The patch was delayed a few days to a matchmaking bug, but now it seems it's all systems go. According to Ubisoft, this patch is aimed mainly toward improving the game's Ranked experience, as well as calibrating some systems. As per the patch's notes, Ranked matches will now start only if there are 10 players in the lobby to ensure fairness. Ranked reconnection mechanics have apparently also been improved.
There have also been some changes made to the Operators. For instance, Frost's Super 90 Shotgun falloff damage has been calibrated to 3.5 meters instead of 5 meters. The environmental destruction of Buck's underslung shotgun has also been improved. Players who want to know more about the improvements the update introduced can check out the Patch Notes on the game's website.
The patch complements "Rainbow Six Siege's" first DLC, "Operation Black Ice," which was released on Feb. 2. Three more DLCs are expected to arrive this year.
The release date so far followed the road map that Ubisoft had planned for "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege." The company revealed during the company's Investor Day that it will be revealing new content per "season." January to March is season one, April to June is season 2, and so on.
"Rainbow Six Siege's" Year One Roadmap also revealed that each season will have a particular theme. Season 1's theme is Canada-based, season 2 is based on the United States, while seasons 3 and 4 will be based on Brazil and Japan, respectively.
Gamers can also expect to have eight new Operators by the end of the year, with two operators reportedly being introduced per season. Operators will come with their own distinct primary and secondary weapons and gadgets. The DLCs will also introduce new maps, new game modes and activities, and new cosmetic items.
Gamers can get the "Operation Black Ice" DLC and the upcoming DLCs via Renown or by purchasing the "Rainbow Six Siege" Season Pass.
