'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date rumors: Rockstar Games working on title for years already, says source

(Facebook/Red Dead Redemption)A source says that Rockstar Games has been working on "Red Dead Redemption 2" for years already.

Despite a no-show at major events where other games from various studios and developers are unveiled or teased, rumor has it that it may just be a matter of time before "Red Dead Redemption 2" be finally released.

With Rockstar Games, developer of the "Red Dead Redemption" games, being mum on any details on the alleged sequel to "Red Dead Redemption," fans have been thrown off their balance on the status of "Red Dead Redemption 2," with some even suspecting that there may be no sequel at all.

However, it has been learned that an alleged former Rockstar employee revealed that the studio has been working on "Red Dead Redemption 2" for four years already, and the game would be known as "Legends of the West."

Reports also claim that "Red Dead Redemption 2" would come with two main lead characters, something that will set it apart from the first two "Red Dead" games, "Red Dead" and the current "Red Dead Redemption," where Red Harlow was the focus of the first game and John Marston in the second one.

Prior to the Entertainment Electronic Expo (E3) last June, many people thought that "Red Dead Redemption" would be released. However, the event commenced and concluded without even a mere mention of the game.

After the alleged "Red Dead Redemption 2" failed to appear in E3, hope of the fans that the game would be soon launched was renewed after it was reported that Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has confirmed its attendance at Gamescom 2016, which is happening in Cologne, Germany this week.

However, Gaming Bolt opines that it is unlikely for the game to be announced at the said event as this year's Gamescom is the most low profile over the years — thanks to the absence of a press show from the giants in the electronic gaming world, such as Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo.

The online publication believes that, if ever Rockstar Games will unveil "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is most likely to announce it through its website, just like what it did when it unveiled its "Grand Theft Auto 5" (GTA 5).
