'Reign' season 4 episode 3 spoilers, plot news: Gideon Blackburn asks Queen Mary to marry him
Episode 3 of The CW's "Reign" season 4 titled "Leaps of Faith" will highlight the romance in the life of Mary (Adelaide Kane). Gideon Blackburn (Ben Geurens) shows her how different her life can be if she chooses love over a life sacrificed for the good of Scotland.
Avid followers of the TV series can also expect to see Catherine (Megan Follows) do everything in her power to cover the increasing erratic behavior of King Charles (Spencer MacPherson). On the other hand, Claude (Rose Williams) will see her sister Leeza (Anastasi Phillips) becoming one of her unexpected enemies.
"Mary will always be a target," Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) says in the promo video. Mary, on the other hand, will continue to fortify her alliances in an attempt to be formidable enough to go against Elizabeth. In the same promo, she is heard saying, "Together, we pose a real threat to Elizabeth's right to rule."
In another portion of the teaser, Gideon is seen asking Mary to marry him. As fans may recall, Gideon is the new English envoy in France. He was previously imprisoned in the Tower of London because of his affiliation with Mary, but was later released by order of the queen to do a special task – to seduce the Queen of Scots.
In the previous season, Gideon took every opportunity to flatter Mary and in the episode titled "The Hound and the Hare," Gideon impressed Mary when he carried her all the way back to the castle after she hurt her ankle.
Meanwhile, the ongoing conflict for power between the two queens - Mary and Elizabeth – will continue to get heated as the Queen of Scots will continue to hold Elizabeth accountable for ordering the beheading of her loyal lady-in-waiting, Lola (Anna Popplewell) in the previous season.
"Reign" season 4 episode 3 airs on Friday, Feb. 24, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
