'Resident Evil 7' news: 'Banned Footage' Volumes 1 and 2 DLC released for PC, Xbox One

(Capcom Unity)Teaser of "Resident Evil" 7's "Banned Footage" DLC

Capcom recently released the first two packs of downloadable content (DLC) of "Resident Evil 7" for PC and Xbox One.

According to Capcom Unity, the two volumes, which were made available on Feb. 21, contain several hours worth of gameplay and also provide more backstory about the Bakers, the villains of "Resident Evil 7."

"Banned Footage" Volume 1 has three episodes, namely "Nightmare," "Bedroom" and "Ethan Must Die.

In "Nightmare," the player fights for survival as endless hordes of enemies attack him. This stays true to the survival horror vibe of the main game and provides limited resources that can be used by the player to last until daybreak. Meanwhile, "Bedroom" requires the player to escape from a bedroom under the watchful eye of Marguerite.

The last episode of Volume 1, "Ethan Must Die," according to Capcom Unity, is a mode that is "endlessly replayable" because its drops are randomized, meaning players will never know what to expect each time they turn a corner.

"Banned Footage" Volume 2, on the other hand, also comes with three episodes. The first is "21," a mode which is essentially a deadly version of the card game blackjack. The second is "Daughters," which gives players a peek at how the Bakers lived before they were infected by the virus that turned them into monsters. The last mode is "Jack's 55th Birthday," wherein players need to race against the clock and enemies to bring Jack food.

Players can purchase the "Resident Evil" 7 season pass for $29.99. This does not just include the two DLCs but also the last remaining DLC of the survival horror game, the title and the release date of which have yet to be announced.

Aside from the three volumes, Capcom also committed to release a free DLC this spring. Titled "Not a Hero," this is said to feature a new storyline that is nonetheless tied together with what happened in "Resident Evil 7." Fans speculate that this DLC will feature the surprise character at the end of the game, which throws back to the previous releases of the survival horror franchise.

Volumes 1 and 2 were released earlier for PS4 users; the former launched on Jan. 21 and the latter on Feb. 14.
