"Sleepy Hollow" was on top form last episode, causing excitement among fans who have long been hoping for the return of season 1's magic. But can the series maintain the momentum as it winds down its third season?

The previous episode, aptly titled "Incognito," saw Crane (Tom Mison) trapped in the archives with the Hidden One (Peter Mensah), while Pandora (Shannyn Sossamon), Abbie (Nicole Beharie), Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood), Joe (Zach Appelman), and Sophie (Jessica Camacho) try to find a way to free them. Most fans agreed that the episode had all the hallmarks that made "Sleepy Hollow" season 1 such a big hit — the scary mythological being, interesting historical bits and Witness backstory, excellent writing, and Ichabod's droll humour.

The next episode will find the Witnesses more determined than ever to stop the Hidden One's threat. A synopsis for episode 16, "Dawn's Early Light," teases that "As the Hidden One grows stronger, Crane must examine his past with Betsy Ross (Nikki Reed) to find the key to stopping him." Relationships are also tested as Jenny struggles to form a bond with her father, while Abbie makes a decision regarding Reynolds (Lance Gross).

What Abbie decides on becomes apparent in the upcoming episode's trailer, which begins with the Hidden One showing a woman his power and telling her that he will wipe away the world. Meanwhile, his wife Pandora arrives at the archives and Crane wastes no time pointing a gun at her. The Witnesses are also shown in the car together, as Abbie explains to Reynolds that "the monsters are real and they're here in Sleepy Hollow." Crane reveals they have 48 hours before the Hidden One destroys everything. The clip ends with Crane fighting a creature that looks remarkably like the Kindred. As they fight, Abbie and Reynolds arrive and the FBI agent orders them to freeze.

The Comic Book Movie site has several stills of the episode and one photo gives "Sleepy Hollow" fans a better look at the creature Crane is fighting.

There are only three episodes left before the season 3 finale is aired and fans are hoping that the series will be renewed despite its ratings drop.

Episode 16 of "Sleepy Hollow" season 3 will be aired on March 25.
