Mike's (Patrick J. Adams) stay in prison will change him in ways he never thought he would in the sixth season of "Suits."

When he decided on a plea deal to save Harvey (Gabriel Macht), Jessica (Gina Torres) and the firm during the season 5 finale of "Suits," many viewers were surprised. After all, taking all the blame meant being separated from his fiancée Rachel (Meghan Markle). By admitting his guilt, Mike has also destroyed his reputation. He may not get another chance to pursue his dreams of becoming a full-pledged lawyer, as people will be leery of an attorney who has been sentenced for fraud.

While many call it the honorable thing to do, it cannot discount the fact that Mike will spend several years in jail. He will be in the company of hardcore criminals. When asked if Mike would be spending his prison time working hard to get his law degree, showrunner Aaron Korsh said no. He told The Hollywood Reporter that studying was the last thing in Mike's mind while in incarceration. The EP added that the character's main concern was more on survival than anything else. Does it mean his life will be in danger?

"The topic of what happens to him in prison is not in large measure him getting his law degree. That's not what we're focusing on, and we're trying to do something a little different and unexpected. But that's not the focus of Mike's journey in prison. It's more about him surviving and then he has a turn. There are a few twists and turns. But he's not a jailhouse lawyer, so to speak," Korsh shared.

Meanwhile, Korsh told Star Pulse that they tweaked some of the original scripts in the finale, including Mike and Rachel's decision not to get married. He said that he changed the storyline after conversing with Macht and Markle. The coitus that transpired was also altered at the last minute, as all of them felt that the viewers should see how deep the connection was between the two characters.

"Suits" season 6 is expected to return in the second quarter of 2016, although USA Network has yet to reveal the release date.
