'Supergirl' season 2 episode 9 spoilers: Series to cast the spotlight on Supergirl-Mon-El budding romance
Although "Supergirl" season 2 has already entered its hiatus phase — thanks to TV's winter break season — it is already alleged that the first episode of The CW series when it returns in January next year will continue to follow the blossoming relationship between Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Mon-El (Chris Wood).
"Supergirl" will resume airing its season 2 episodes in January 2017 via its ninth episode. While the said episode is not slated to air within a month's time, spoiler reports already claim that the upcoming episode will cast the spotlight on the budding romance between the two powerful beings. After all, no less than "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has hinted of what the viewers can expect.
"The chemistry between Chris and Melissa is definitely palpable, and we're loving writing their characters together. The next episode is a big Kara/Mon-El story that we're really excited about. They're both obviously playing coy about what happened, neither admitting that they actually did kiss, so how and when that comes out is going to be fun and delicious," Kreisberg said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly late last month.
While Kreisberg may be right about Benoist and Wood's chemistry, it remains unknown, though, if the characters the two actors breathe life into will be compatible for the rest of "Supergirl" season 2. As Kreisberg has, likewise, hinted that an alien race from Daxam will be hunting down Mon-El, some can't help but suspect that the character has not been honest with the real reason why he left his home planet.
Will the truth about Mon-El's exile from Krypton's sister planet take a toll on his blossoming romance with Kara/Supergirl?
Fans can only wait and see for now.
Meanwhile, although Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) has proven that she is on the good side, it is suspected that there is still that possibility for her to be Supergirl's enemy. After all, she is not the sister of Lex Luthor for nothing.
"She's passed the goodness tests that have been placed in front of her up until now, but you always have to wonder if there is going to be a bridge too far for her where she will inherit the Luthor mantle of being a true enemy for Supergirl," Kreisberg revealed.
Will the second half of "Supergirl" season 2 finally reveal the true colors of Lena Luthor? Has Mon-El been lying to Supergirl all along?
Find out when "Supergirl" returns to The CW for the rest of its season 2 beginning Jan. 16, 2017.
