'Supernatural' season 11 spoilers: Castiel looks bloody in Twitter posts; still experiencing Attack Dog spell effect
This year's Halloween is set to be memorable as some of TV's best and most anticipated shows dealing with the occult and other dark forces are set to return. "Supernatural" is one of them, and the show's eleventh season is set to pick up right where it left off, with Dean and Sam gearing up to fight The Darkness they have unleashed and with Castiel (Misha Collins) still suffering from the after effects of Rowena's (Ruth Connell) spell.
Season 10 saw the demon-hunting brothers reuniting in order to figure out what The Darkness is and how to stop it. According to showrunner, Jeremy Carver, the Winchesters will still be together and working with each other next season, something that has not happened in a long while.
"This year, we are going to have a little bit more of an epic feel with a Big Bad and a real quest for the brothers to unite," Carver explained.
It is a situation that "Supernatural" stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who play Sam and Dean, respectively, remain excited about. During SDCC, Ackles admitted that what he likes about the next season is that "the brothers are united, similar to Season 1, when we were looking for dad."
Padalecki sounded even more upbeat and told fans that he thinks "we'll beat [The Darkness] because we're not the Losechesters."
Despite their enthusiasm, it will definitely be an uphill battle for the Winchesters next season, as with their fallen angel wingman, Misha Collins' Castiel.
Several set photos that Collins shared on Twitter showed the grace-less angel battered and bloody as he continues to fight off the effects of the attack dog spell.
The 40-year-old Collins revealed that when fans see Castiel at the start of season 11, he is still "right where things left off at the end of season 10." In other words, he is not doing well.
"It's not affecting him exactly in the same manner that it affects a human, but it does affect him in a very adverse manner," Collins says of the attack dog spell. "It's something that he's coping with for quite some time."
Fans will find out how exactly the spell is affecting Castiel when "Supernatural" returns on Oct. 7.
