'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers, plot: Mary becomes a liability to her sons

(Facebook/Supernatural)Mary adjusts to the modern world in "Supernatural" season 12.

Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) is the wild card to watch out for in the upcoming season of "Supernatural." After being dead for 30 years, she was suddenly resurrected by Amara (Emily Swallow) as a gift to Dean (Jensen Ackles). It appears, though, that she cannot remember a thing about what happened to her the night the yellow-eyed demon killed her.

Last installment, Dean succeeded in reconciling Amara with her brother. Before she disappeared, though, Amara told Dean that she prepared something for him, a gift that he wanted above all. When he opened his eyes, he was at a cemetery. He then heard someone asking for help. Dean could not believe his eyes when the person he was seeking turned out to be his dead mother. Mary was still wearing the nightdress she had on the day she died. She also appeared to be disoriented. Smith recently talked to Enstarz about what to expect about her character in season 12.

"I don't think she knows where she is, what's happening, why am I here? I was on fire a minute ago, what is going on? And in much the same way that I don't Dean is positive she is who she looks like she is, she may not A) know who he is at all or [B)] if he really is who he says he is. I think as a hunter your first instinct is doubt, always," the actress teased.

If Mary will not be able to remember a thing about the three decades she was dead, she will likely turn out to be a liability to her sons. Dean is already worrying about Sam (Jared Padalecki), who was kidnapped by the Men of Letters. Season 12 is expected to reveal what happened to him after Lady Toni Bevell (Elizabeth Blackmore) shot him in the chest. Dean is expected to ask Castiel (Misha Collins) for help in finding his brother. It will be a good choice, as Collins recently teased to Blastr that the angel has found his groove once again and is done playing the weak soldier of God.

"Supernatural" season 12 will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 13, on The CW.
