'Switched at Birth' season 4 spoilers: tension between Daphne and parents over Mingo; awkward encounter for Bay with someone from past
"Switched at Birth" returns with an all-new episode, "Borrowing Your Enemy's Arrows," on Monday, Sept. 28. The upcoming episode is the 16th episode of season four and is the second episode directed by D.W. Moffett, who portrays John Kennish.
Last week, Daphne, Bay and Travis spent spring break volunteering in Mexico helping Melody, who was there to distribute hearing aids to underprivileged locals.
In the upcoming episode, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) struggles with dating a guy that her parents hate. It seems that the disapproval of her boyfriend, Mingo, is due to some preexisting relationship between their fathers.
According to CarterMatt, when Daphne and Mingo arrange a dinner party to introduce their parents to one another, Daphne's parents realize that "Mingo's father is the business manager John blames for his current financial problems."
Showrunner, Lizzy Weiss, revealed that the upcoming episode will be rife with unexpected conflict. The promo trailer also shows that things get quite heated during grill night. With John Kennish disapproving of his daughter's relationship, Daphne and Mingo's future seems bleak.
Meanwhile, Bay (Vanessa Marano) deals with the reappearance of someone from her past. Bay has an awkward face-to-face encounter with her ex-boyfriend, Tank, after she runs into him at the restaurant where he works. In the promo trailer, Tank tells Bay how hard it has been for him to have his name associated with the word "rape."
Their tense reunion is rooted in events that transpired last season. Bay had awoken next to Tank and while something had happened between them, Bay had no recollection of events that happened the previous night.
Along with the new episode, it seems that season four of "Switched at Birth" has been able to depict the complexities and difficulties that exists in different kinds of relationships.
