Someone is out to kill Noah (Dominic West) in the upcoming episode of "The Affair." Who among his enemies are angry enough to stab him?

In the third episode of the Showtime series, the synopsis (as per TV Guide) reveals that disgraced author will try to make sense of what has been happening to him after he was released from prison. Noah has been trying to pick up the pieces of his life but then he got stabbed. The unknown assailant left him bleeding on his kitchen floor last episode. Fortunately, Juliette (Irene Jacob) went to see him that night and brought him to the hospital.

As per the sneak peek (via IB Times), Helen (Maura Tierney) will tell the people in the hospital that she is Noah's wife so she can be with him. When he wakes up, he cannot remember what happened. The nurse tells Noah his wife is so worried about him and he thinks Alison (Ruth Wilson) is actually there. When Helen appears, he is visibly upset. The nurse wants to interrogate Helen more on why she lied, but Noah said she is his ex.

Helen asks Noah if he remembers who stabbed him, but he cannot say anything. The nurse says he is very lucky, since the knife almost pierced his jugular vein. Helen wants the police to be involved, but Noah is clearly thinking about other possibilities. He knows that a prison security guard (Brendan Fraser) is stalking him. That person may be the culprit, but Noah also cannot discount the fact that there are others who want him dead. Noah is also getting suspicious about Juliette who appears to be hiding a dark secret. Is an affair the only thing she wants from him or is there something else?
