'The Blacklist' season 3 spoilers: Red, Tom, and Liz's old team work with Hargrave to avenge Liz's death in episode 22; will Tom join Halcyon?

(Facebook/NBCBlacklist)Red and Tom will work with Hargrave and Mr. Solomon, in order to catch Alexander Kirk.

The maxim "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" has never been as explicitly expressed as Red and Tom's team-up with Hargrave and Mr. Solomon. But can the two groups keep the peace long enough to give Liz justice?

The previous episode saw Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) working together to capture Susan Hargrave (Famke Janssen), the woman inadvertently responsible for Elizabeth's (Megan Boone) death. The two learned that Hargrave's team, Halcyon Aegis, was just hired to abduct Liz and not to kill her. Fearing for her life, Hargrave gave up the name of her enigmatic client — Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen). As it turns out, the man is Red's longtime nemesis.

Viewers will be introduced to Red's mysterious enemy in episode 22. As they start to close in on the man responsible for Liz's death, her old team and Tom will be forced to team up with their erstwhile enemy, Mr. Solomon (Edi Gathegi). They will also be working outside the law if they want to take out Kirk once and for all.

Fans would definitely think it's surreal for Tom and Mr. Solomon to be working together, but that's exactly what they're doing in the trailer for the upcoming episode, simply titled "Alexander Kirk." The clip begins with a shot of a man, who Red introduces as Alexander Kirk and the one responsible for Liz's death. The suave criminal mastermind is then seen addressing Tom and Liz's old teammates, Samar (Mozhan Marno) and Aram (Amir Arison), and telling them they need to work with Hargrave if they want to take Kirk down. Strangely enough, Hargrave is shown tenderly caressing Tom's face as she tells him they can do "incredible things together."

One scene that "The Blacklist" fans would find remarkably strange and amazing is a shot of the various characters, and erstwhile enemies, sitting at a round table, having a meeting. There's a clear divide though, with Hargrave apparently in the middle, Liz's old boss and team on one side; Mr. Solomon and Hargrave's team on the other. They appear to be planning a bank robbery, something that Cooper (Harry Lennix) is obviously against.

However, the robbery appears to have pushed through as Mr. Solomon and Tom are later shown wearing a mask, carrying guns, and carrying out the heist. Fans are also shown the usual fight scenes and explosions. The clip ends with Red telling Hargrave, "this is gonna be a gas" and chuckling.

The introduction of Hargrave and Mr. Solomon and Tom working together appears to be setting the stage for the upcoming "The Blacklist" spin-off. But fans are more concerned with whether this season's 2-part finale will answer the lingering question of whether Liz really is dead or has just been hidden away. Hopefully, the answers will be coming soon.

Fans can catch episode 22 of "The Blacklist" season 3 on NBC on May 12 at 9 p.m.
