'The Blacklist' season 4 spoilers: Red's next move after Liz's betrayal

(Facebook / The Blacklist)"The Blacklist" season 4 will see Red tracking down Liz after she was abducted by Kirk

Following the shocking finale of "The Blacklist" season three, fans are up for more emotional and thrilling scenes as Liz's abduction becomes the center of Red's life in season four.

Red (James Spader) has been betrayed, lied to and taken for granted. It was surprising to see Liz (Megan Boone) trying to get away from Red, believing that her life is much more at risk if she sticks with him.

While Red and Liz's relationship has already been strained by the latter's betrayal, Alexander Kirk's (Ulrich Thomsen) arrival made things even more complicated. Kirk told Liz that he is her father, and Red thinks he is lying.

Game N Guide says fans are doubting Kirk's motives for suddenly coming out of his shell at this point in Liz's life. Does he have other motives besides hopefully mending the torn bond between him and his purported daughter? Will he use Liz to get to Red?

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jon Bokenkamp teased on what fans should expect when "The Blacklist" season three arrives. "I can't imagine him [Red] abandoning Liz. She hurt him, but we often hurt the people we love. The fact he's been hurt isn't nearly enough for him to walk away," he explained.

Based on Bokenkamp's remarks, it is safe to assume that Red will do everything to get his partner back. They have shared good and bad times together, and coming from the EP himself, it's almost unimaginable to think that Red's anger will keep him from saving Liz from his archenemy's grasp.

Aside from Red's desire to save Liz from Kirk's possible lies and selfish motives, he also has his own reasons to track down the perpetrator. Kirk and Red have a long history of angst against each other and it would be interesting to see how Liz's involvement in their feud will progress.

The question is, will Liz intervene or will she take sides? Stay tuned for more updates.

"The Blacklist" season four premieres on September 22, 2016 on NBC.
