'The Following' season 3 spoilers: Ryan and his team try to track down hacker Theo; what is Mark's shock decision?

"The Following" certainly gave fans a rare treat by finally introducing fan-favorite Joe Carroll. However, the new big bad of the season, Theo Noble, is definitely an intimidating criminal and a challenging threat to Hardy and his team. Can Ryan catch him in time before more innocent bystanders get hurt?

It seems Michael Ealy's Theo won't go down easy. He is unlike Joe Carroll because he possesses superior hacking skills. In episode nine, named "Kill The Messenger", CaterMatt reports that Ryan and Theo will continue to play cat-and-mouse games. After last episode's shocking discovery, Ryan Hardy finds himself being followed by the new elusive killer. He plays a game of cat-and-mouse that somehow leads them both back to Joe Carroll but for markedly distinct reasons. How can Joe be connected to all of this? Max and Mike look for a stolen clue while Mark makes a shocking decision. What decision does Mark make? Is it to kill someone close to him or to turn himself to the FBI? In "The Following", anything is possible.

The episode's promotional video provides more information on what seasoned viewers can expect. Theo hacks into Ryan's personal information and fudges his data. Clearly, the man is an adept hacker and technician which was proven when he remotely bombed a residence. Theo is not just a skilled hacker but also has myriad alternate identities and Ryan is seen telling this to his team while they attempt to track him down.

While Ryan has difficulty tracking Theo, the most disturbing part of the trailer suggests that Joe and Ryan are actually working together. It may as well be a dream sequence since the show is known to use dreams intermittently. Was Ryan a follower of Joe?

Ealy spoke to TVLine about his character saying, "Theo is a serial killer who does not want the attention. He doesn't want followers...He is extremely calculating. What I've discovered, over shooting these episodes, is he's always got a plan."

Looks like Ryan's team can never catch a break. Watch "The Following" on Monday, April 20 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
