'The Incredibles 2' rumors: Jack-Jack will be the main villain

(Facebook/The Incredibles)"The Incredibles 2" is tentatively slated for a June 2019 release.

There is no denying that "The Incredibles 2" is one of the most-anticipated animated sequels from Pixar. While there are various rumors and speculations as to how its story may pan out, the latest in the rumor mill is that no less than a member of the Parr family will be the main villain in the movie.

According to rumors, "The Incredibles 2" may feature the youngest child in the Parr family, Jack-Jack, as its villain in the movie. It can be recalled that Jack-Jack was just a baby in the first "The Incredibles," but the latter scenes in the said movie already teased how powerful he would become.

As "The Incredibles 2" is rumored to feature a time jump, it is said that the now-teenage Jack-Jack will be confused about his powers and will join the dark side, making him one force to reckon with in the sequel.

In an exclusive interview with Collider last year, Brad Bird, the writer and director of Pixar's "The Incredibles 2," revealed that he was 75 percent done with the script for the sequel of the 2004 animated blockbuster. As the script wasn't done yet, it was quite understandable why Bird could not even say when the long overdue sequel would be released. However, the latest post on Pixar's official website, "The Incredibles 2" is slated for a June 21, 2019 release date with a disclaimer saying that it can still change.

Pointing out that release dates of movies should be fluid, Bird recalled that the release of the first "The Incredibles" was supposed to happen after the release of another Pixar animated blockbuster, "Cars." However, things didn't happen the way they were planned as "The Incredibles" was released two years ahead of "Cars."

"Incredibles was supposed to happen after 'Cars,' and our wheels just happened to click a little earlier so they moved us up. Release dates are a little fluid when you're making films so far in advance. Some films are tougher to come together and tough nuts to crack, and other ones comes together a little more quickly," revealed Bird then.

With the abundance of superhero movies these past few years, Bird said that fans could rest assured that "The Incredibles 2" would not be told in a way how other superhero movies are told these days; rather, the movie will focus more on the relationships among its characters. With this, could it be that Bird would zero in on the relationship of Jack-Jack with his family?

Find out when "The Incredibles 2" arrives in theaters a little less than three years from now.
