'The Maze Runner 3' release date further delayed: what to expect
Actor Dylan O'Brien is not yet back to filming "The Maze Runner 3" and his prolonged absence will further delay the release of the movie.
It has been months since O'Brien figured in an accident while filming a scene for "The Maze Runner 3," also known as "The Maze Runner: The Death Cure." As the main protagonist of the movie series, filming was suspended until he could get back to work.
The accident happened in March, and to this day, there have been no reports about him being back to work. While working on the movie, O'Brien was also supposed to film for "Teen Wolf" season 6, which is already scheduled to premiere in fall.
He has already filmed many of his scenes for the series and unconfirmed reports suggest that the story of "Teen Wolf" season 6 was adjusted so that he could still figure largely on the series. However, the same thing cannot be done for "The Maze Runner" sequel as the movie is based on a novel.
"The Maze Runner: The Death Cure" was originally scheduled to hit theaters on February 17, 2017. It was later moved to January 2018 to allow healing time for O'Brien before filming resumes. The details of his injury have not been shared and the extent of the injury is left to the imagination of the public.
FOX issued a statement that says, "Dylan O'Brien was injured yesterday while filming 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure' in Vancouver, Canada. He was immediately transferred to a local hospital for observation and treatment. Production on the film will be shut down while he recovers. Our thoughts go out to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery."
