While the fate of the Mikaelsons on "The Originals" still remains up in the air after they were put under a spell at the season 3 finale of the series, the latest in the rumor mill is that somebody from Klaus' (Joseph Morgan) past may return to help him from the ordeal he is in when "The Originals" returns for its fourth season. 

It can be recalled that the Mikaelsons were placed under a spell that leaves them in a dream-like state in the season 3 finale of "The Originals," while Klaus is forced into a pain-induced coma. The latest in the rumor mill is that the show may feature a crossover from the series where "The Originals" stemmed from, "The Vampire Diaries," and somebody from Klaus' past will come to his rescue: Caroline (Candice King).

Avid fans of "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries" know too well that Klaus and Caroline shared something romantic on "The Vampire Diaries." In fact, their romance was close to rivaling the popularity of that of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) and was even highlighted on "The Vampire Diaries" season 3. However, when Morgan decided to quit "The Vampire Diaries" to concentrate on its spin-off series, "The Originals," many fans of the pair were left disappointed.

As "The Vampire Diaries" is slated to air its last and final season beginning Oct. 21, it is presumed that King will already be free to guest on "The Originals," although the exact release date is yet unknown. And, if ever Caroline really moves to New Orleans (setting of "The Originals") from "The Vampire Diaries'" Mystic Falls, it is said that she will be the one to help Klaus overcome his ordeal.

Meanwhile, apart from Caroline, there are also rumors claiming that Klaus' salvation lies in the hands of his own daughter with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), Hope (Summer Fontana), who will rescue him and the rest of the Mikaelsons. After all, Hope is the only character on the series who has the combined powers of a witch, werewolf, and a vampire.

Will Caroline really come to the rescue of Klaus? Or Hope is Klaus' hope after all?
