'The Vampire Diaries' season 6 episode 18 spoilers: Stephan and Caroline could decide Tyler's fate; Damon has a plan to get Stephan back
"The Vampire Diaries" viewers received a shock of their life when lead actress Nina Dobrev announced her exit from the sci-fi series. Michael Trevino, who plays Tyler Lockwood, also announced his exit, leaving fans teary-eyed and speculating on the possible exit strategies of the two characters.
In episode 18 titled "I Could Never Love Like That", Stephan and Caroline continue to leave a bloody trail of bodies at Whitmore and quench their blood lust, according to WetPaint. This sends patients to the hospital where Jo and Elena attempt to treat victims of the romantic pair's killing spree. Elena learns that Jo is pregnant and this leads her to introspect on her vampire life. Does this introspection lead to her exit in season six's final episode? Now that fans know her character will be gone, will this self-introspection pave the way for the end of Elena Gilbert?
Meanwhile, Damon concocts a plan that involves his mother, Lily Salvatore, in an attempt to flip Stephan's humanity switch back on. However, as fans know Damon well, the plan is risky. Elena is concerned about Damon since this is his second chance to have a relationship with his mother but Damon insists she is nothing but a tool in his plan to get his brother back.
Actress Annie Wersching, who essays the role as Lily, told TVLine in an interview that "It's actually Damon's plan to have mama be the thing to help Stefan out of his humanity-off phase. That doesn't necessarily mean things go according to plan, but that's the idea. ... She tries her best to be what her sons want her to be, but she's a very different woman now".
Sarah boldly turns tables on Enzo which leads him to open up to her about his tragic past. But what is most interesting about the episode is that Tyler and Matt go to Scull Bar to do some karaoke and a fun night turns dark when Stephan and Caroline decide their fate based on a coin toss. Is this the part where Tyler dies since the actor has announced his exit?
