Realm dwellers Bonnie, Damon and Ky are still trapped in a living hell in the 1994 version of Mystic Falls. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of the cruelest days for Bonnie in 'The Vampire Diaries' season 6.

In the last episode of The Vampire Diaries entitled 'The World Has Turned and Left Me Here,' Bonnie made a startling discovery – Ky does not know the spell to get them all home. To cut the long story short, Bonnie sent an ax right through the heart of Ky just like that.

Damon and Bonnie struggled with the cryptic object that could potentially be their ride home. Just when they are making huge strides, Ky came back from the dead and stabbed Bonnie.

Damon has left Bonnie behind, believing that his friend is left "for dead." This added up to the surmountable guilt that Damon is carrying.

Dries described how Bonnie will try to do everything she can to escape the "horror movie" scenario that she is having in the 1994 setting of Mystic Falls.

"Damon believes she was left for dead, so he's struggling with the guilt of having gotten out when she sacrificed herself for him. With Bonnie left behind with Kai we'll see basically a horror movie for her and she's desperately trying to find a way out without letting Kai back. It's this endless bad dream for her," said Dries in the said interview with TV Guide.

The EP also described how Damon will decide to lie about the discoveries he had during his time back in order to protect everyone's feelings.

"When he comes back he has the opportunity to tell them exactly what happened or lie and cover up the truth in order to protect people's feelings. He chooses the latter, hoping that's the right choice to make," continued the producer.

In another interview, Dries hinted that sparks could fly once again for lovebirds Damon and Elena, as the former returns from the past.
