The Sirens' diabolical plan is slowly becoming clearer as Seline kidnaps Caroline's children. Can Stefan protect the girls or will Damon pay the price for inciting their mother's wrath?

The previous episode of "The Vampire Diaries" saw Stefan's (Paul Wesley) plan to hide Damon (Ian Somerhalder), while they try to stop Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) backfiring in a big way. After being freed by Sybil from the coffin that Stefan imprisoned him in, the vampire decided to fully submit to the siren's power. Meawhile, Matt (Zach Roerig) recognizes Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) from a photo that Caroline (Candice King) showed him of her children. But by the time she reached home, Seline had already taken her daughters.

It's a given that any mother becomes vicious when the safety of her children are at stake. It appears the same holds true whether the mother is a witch or a vampire. Episode 6 will apparently find Caroline taking drastic measures to ensure that her daughters are safe from whatever plans the Sirens are hatching. However, the situation forces the tension between Caroline and Alaric (Matt Davis) to boil over, causing them to realize some hard truths about their little family.

Meanwhile, Stefan vows to save the twins, while Enzo (Michael Malarkey) struggles to fight off Sybil's influence. When his friend couldn't resist the siren, Stefan dives into his subconscious and triggers a chain of events that will force him to make a life-changing decision.

The upcoming episode will undoubtedly be memorable, if only because it carries the exceedingly long title of "Detoured on Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell." Meanwhile, a trailer for the episode shows Caroline going all protective mama as she confronts Stefan and tells him she will kill Damon if he "gets between me and my girls." Damon is then seen meeting the little girls with Sybil and later, viewers are given a glimpse of their powers.

There are speculations that Seline sees a lot of herself and her sister in Caroline's girls. This might not be a good thing, though, as there are reports suggesting that the siren will offer the girls to Cade (Wole Parks) in exchange for her and Sybil's freedom.

Episode 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will return to The CW on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.
