'Walking Dead' season 5 spoilers: Will safety for the group spell the death of Glenn?
While episode 10 was a depressing one for fans to watch, with Rick Grimes' group at their lowest ever with no food, water or shelter, episode 11 promises to give hope. Viewers may recall that a clean-cut person showed himself to Maggie and Sasha as they watched the sunrise. He claims he is "a friend".
So, can he be trusted? According to the comics, yes, since he is the recruiter from Alexandria safe-zone. However, at this point, Rick's group is extremely distrustful of strangers claiming to offer help. Who can blame them after running into cannibals at the Terminus and the debacles that followed with the Governor? In the promotional video, Rick and his loyal followers are seen interrogating Aaron who is bound to a chair. Aaron tells Rick, "You're being cautious. I completely understand." Rick's group looks ready to attack, but after Aaron helps them take down walkers and Michonne says she's going with him, the group heads to Alexandria.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Ross Marquand talked about how his character covertly observed the group and their behavior before finally emerging from the shadows. He said, "He's been following this group, whipping out his spy gear to some degree. He's been tracking the group for a while and getting a vibe from them and getting the dynamics of leadership from them and how they work together—and that's extremely important to him. A lot more is going to be revealed next week."
According to the comics, Alexandria safe-zone is the place the group stays the longest. However, the closer the group is to the safe-zone, the closer fans are to possibly seeing Glenn die. In the original comic book series, the sadistic leader of a violent group named Neegan is introduced, according to International Business Times. Neegan uses a bat to bash Glenn's head.
Episode 11 of season 5 "The Distance" airs on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
